Stretch Marks Can Affect All Of Us

Stretch marks can affect all of us. Many people assume the cause of stretch marks (also known as striae) is pregnancy, and so only pregnant women and mothers are affected. Body builders often suffer from striae, and the majority of these body builders are men. People who gain a great deal of weight are also susceptible to stretch marks. In short, anytime skin is stretched quickly or dramatically, striae are apt to appear.

Not only can striae affect both men and women, but they can affect children, teens, and adults. Skin is a remarkable organ. One of skin's most remarkable abilities is its ability to stretch.

Elastin and collagen are two of the building blocks of skin. Collagen is a binding agent in skin. Elastin provides skin with, you guessed it, its elasticity.

And the skin is phenomenally elastic. The scar tissue that accompanies these small rips in the skin are known as stretch marks.

How Stretch Marks Can Be Prevented or Repaired

A popular home remedy for stretch marks is cocoa butter. Pregnant women, body builders, or growing teenagers can rub in an ointment of elastin, collagen, and other proteins to help prevent tearing, and subsequent scarring. The proteins promote cell regeneration, which improves the scars' appearance. Then they thicken the epidermal layer, creating a smoother top layer of skin. This further improves the look of striae, even striae that are quite old.

Deep Skin Moisturizing

When it comes to skin care, moisturizing is usually one of the more popular, and though it?s hard to believe, more controversial topics. Some experts swear by moisturizing as the best way to keep your skin youthful and healthy while others feel a bit more suspicious of its benefits. Since my grandma lived to 94 years of age with beautiful skin and touted the benefits of moisturizing for years, I tend to lean towards giving it a go. For many, moisturizing on a daily basis is already a daily part of their skin care regime while others are just jumping on the bandwagon for the first time. Regardless of where you fall, deep skin moisturizing is a cost effective and simple way to take hold of the hands of time and rein it in.

First, let?s discuss why your skin needs to be moisturized in the first place. Your skin needs water and oil to carry out its natural healing process. Dehydrated skin has a decreased ability to do that. Although not directly responsible for wrinkles, fine lines, and the more serious risks, such as skin cancer, dry skin is a contributing factor. Since dehydrated skin is less likely to heal itself, it is harder for your skin to recover from the negative effects of the sun and the natural aging process. For these reasons, it seems obvious that moisture is an important part of skin care and moisturizing your skin would be beneficial.

Once you have decided to moisturize, next you?ll need to know just how to go about it. There are a large variety of moisturizing products on the market today that claim to be the ultimate choice in a sea of options. With all these choices it can be difficult to decide what works best for you. Some of the easier, more natural remedies for dry skin are protecting it from the sun, drinking plenty of water, and eating a well-balanced diet high in fiber. Avoid alcohol, smoking, and caffeine. This alone will increase your skin?s moisture content without actually applying anything to it.

For some though, an application of some type of moisturizer is necessary. You want your moisturizer to contain not only moisturizing ingredients, but protective elements as well. Look for products that include in their ingredients including collagen, herbs like Gotu Kola, Flame of Forest, and Sensitive Plant, as well as biological oils. Although moisturizing your skin in most cases is beneficial, if you suffer from acne or particularly sensitive skin, you will need to use a moisturizer that is low in oils and allergen free.

The most effective time to apply a skin moisturizer is directly after showering or bathing. While the skin is saturated, the moisturizer will help to lock in the water and keep your skin moist longer.

Cleanse and Stimulate Your Scalp with the Right Shampoo!

Shampoo contributes to good hair care. In our quest for the perfect makeup, the vital importance of good hair care is mostly ignored. Your hair is usually the first thing people notice about you and gives you away in many ways. Is it dull, dry and damaged, or is it shiny, vibrant and healthy? Well-groomed hair contributes to that perfect look and the confidence in your personality. There are so many shampoos, conditioners and other hair care products available today. One needs to find out which one is best for ones hair.

Don?t take shampoos for granted.

Don?t take shampoos for granted. Unfortunately, it is difficult to tell a good shampoo from a bad one, especially when cost, fragrance and foaming are the main purchasing criteria. In fact, good foaming virtually means too much shampoo was used, or rather, wasted. Ideally, the head should have just enough lather to help your fingers massage the shampoo into the scalp and lubricate the hair. This allows sebum and other oils to destroy foam quickly. Today, different shampoos are available for dry hair, permed hair, color treated hair, limp hair, and of course, normal hair. Then there are shampoos which are not typically found in store bought products. For these contain quality ingredients that contribute to the cost of the product.

For example, salon shampoo classically contains higher quality protein based conditioners or moisturizing conditioners, thus enabling the conditioner to penetrate deeper into the hair shaft and lock in moisture.

Do You Read Labels?

The first ingredient of any product is what makes up the majority of that product. For example if the first ingredient of your cleanser is water, than the majority of your cleanser is nothing but water. That is why it is important to know what is in your products. Are you interested in knowing what you are applying to your skin? Just as there are healthy and unhealthy foods the same applies to skincare products.

Here is a list of skincare ingredients to avoid.

? Mineral Oil- A liquid mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum, mineral oil can attract dirt and causes blackheads and eruptions. It can accelerate free radical damage, thus speeding up the aging process, because it causes toxins to build up in the skin.

? All waxes such as PARAFFIN, BEEWAX, CANDELLIA WAX, CARNUBA WAX- Waxes are widely used in cleansing creams, eye creams and moisturizers. Waxes clog pores creating blackheads and whiteheads. They also smother the skin, which over a period of time, creates an enlarged pore problem.

? Lanolin- A yellow, semi-solid, fatty secretion from sheep?s wool is widely used in skin and beauty care products. It can cause an allergic reaction in some people, as well as enlarged pores.

? PETROLATUM- This familiar semi-solid mixture of hydrocarbons is derived from petroleum. Literally, ?paraffin jelly? or ?petroleum jelly? ? it is not absorbed by the skin and suffocates pores. All petrochemicals pollute our water and destroy marine life-avoiding them is essential for humans, animals, fish, water, land and air.

? ACETONE- Used in nail polish and nail polish removers, this colorless, volatile liquid is often used in astringents, fresheners or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin while speeding up the aging process.

? BORAX (Sodium Borate Boric Acid)- Used in baby powders, eye creams, skin fresheners, and protective creams as a preservative- it is rapidly absorbed by the skin. And it is still widely used, despites repeated warnings from the American Medical Association.

? ALCOHOLS SUCH AS ISOPROPYL ALCHOL, SD ALCOHOL 40,

? ETYL ALCHOL- Alcohols dissolves the body?s own natural moisturizers and strips the skin of its own protection, leaving it vulnerable to infection. Alcohols destroy the skin ph balance and since they absorb water they speed up wrinkling of the skin.

? FD&C- When this abbreviation precedes the name of a color, it means that the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has certified it as safe for use in drugs and cosmetics, but not in food. D&C colors are usually synthetic, coal tar colors; they?re toxic and should be avoided when at all possible.

I challenge you to read labels, to find out what is safe and effective and would benefit you and your skin the most. There are many safe products on the market today and they are not expensive and easy to use and will have your skin looking healthy and radiant.

Common Pitfalls Of Plastic Surgery

Common pitfalls of plastic surgery are those involving before and after pictures with photographic tricks or attractive models instead of the surgeon's patients, that are publicly displayed in printed ads, online advertisement or broadcasted by TV,audio-visual or specific tele-shopping and infomercials.

Before and after pictures are useful to help you make the decision to have cosmetic surgery when they are real, but not advisable as criteria to select a surgeon, since no ethical surgeon can guarantee results this way, but if so, be sure to get his promises in writing.

Fake testimonials implying that anyone can get these results of people sharing their experiences may only be a marketing plan whether viewed on TV, through the internet, heard on the radio or at the surgeon's office; they have a powerful influence in the patient's final decision. Pitfalls can not be easily detected due to the impossibility to verify the authenticity of any given testimonial or the identity of the happy patients.

Because the purpose of testimonials are considered to be a way to solicit patients, most professional societies and State medical boards prohibit the use of testimonials to advertise Plastic Surgery. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) considers this marketing tool a violation to the code of ethics of 97% of certified surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, members of ASPS.

Impressive sounding surgeon's credentials or a plastic surgery procedure that does not name the surgeon may be listed as pitfalls of plastic surgery. While it is obvious to expect that a surgeon has the proper training, credentials and experience to provide the plastic surgery procedure or service you are seeking, remember that many physicians may call themselves plastic surgeons or cosmetic surgeons with training. In fact, in most states any physician may perform any procedure without peer scrutiny and no training requirements.

Since there are no requirements that the physician be is a trained surgeon, anyone may claim to be a board-certified surgeon simply by joining a sound-a-like organization, but the true meaning is that The American Society of Plastic Surgeons enforces one of the most rigorous ethical codes in the medical profession, so the best way to find out a surgeon's facts is consulting only surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Other pitfalls of plastic surgery are those offering dramatic results with superficial treatments, minimal or non-invasive procedures, no risk or little risk and downtime as well as a variety of products, procedures or manipulations without mention of the doctor's qualification, board certification or his/her specialty. These promises are designed more for marketing reasons than a real therapeutic value.

These individual procedures may be inexpensive, but offers only little or temporal improvement, so it is necessary for multiple sessions before seeing positive results, raising in the mean time the costs, often comparable to the total cost of the plastic surgery. Non surgical procedures with high tech names suggest new approaches to youthful appearance and the expectation of major effectiveness.

All these issues make it difficult for patients to separate plastic surgery hype from reality.

Herbal Beauty Products

Herbs are nature?s gift to mankind. They are highly potent and have healing qualities. Herbs and their derivatives are proven to be safer than other cosmetic products, and have negligible side effects. Herbal beauty products have their source in the ancient Indian system of medicine called Ayurveda.

Herbal beauty products are a combination of dried powders, flowers and roots in an oil base. They contain no preservatives, and are ecofriendly. They are not tested on animals and can be used on any skin type. The most sought-after herbal products are those that contain aloe vera. It is an essential ingredient in most herbal preparations.

Other well-known herbal products include cleansing agents made from spearmint and lime, moisturizers made from lavender and ginseng, and exfoliating scrubs made from the seeds and pits of fruits, and cleansing grains like oatmeal, corn meal, and tapioca. In addition, herbal moisturizers containing cucumber and cantaloupe are mild, light, and equally effective against dry skin.

Some herbal products help with mild conditions such as color patches, wrinkled skin, dull skin, and acne. These herbal products have their origin in flower and plant extracts.

For those who would prefer to make their own herbal concoctions at home, a wide variety of recipes are available on the Internet and in book stores. Some of the simplest recipes include two to three ingredients such as sage and sea salt, or apricots and water blended with skim milk powder, which can be easily found in stores.

Beauty products are not essential, but they are a luxury that most of us can afford. If you use beauty products, try to find some that have herbal ingredients, which will cater to your concerns while taking care of your body.

Beauty Tips for Luscious Lips

The last step in your makeup regime is lipstick application. Some women say if they could have only one beauty item it would be lipstick. Lip color brings the whole look together to create harmony. To keep your lips looking perfect, have lip color with you at all times and reapply when needed.

When you select a lip color take in consideration your clothing and blush colors. The color of your clothing and blush should complement your lipstick but doesn?t have to be perfectly matched. However, the colors should be in the same intensity and range. Wear cool colors together and warm colors together. Pink lipsticks go with blue and pink colors and corals and russets go with clothing that falls in a yellow/orange range.

Steps to apply lip color:

1.Prepare your lips by applying foundation over them (this will extend the wear).

2.Outline and define the shape using a lip pencil that has soft, pointed top. Start at the V in your upper lip drawing down to the corners. Then, starting at the middle of the bottom lip draw a line to the corners. To help lipstick stay on longer, use your pencil to cover the lips entirely.

3.Fill in upper lip with lipstick or you can use a lip brush.

4.Fill in the lower lip and then blot with a tissue and reapply.

5.Dab gloss in the centre of your lower lip to create a fuller more glamorous look.

When defining the lips with a lip pencil be sure the pencil and lipstick colors are very close. The lip liner should not be noticeable. Lip liners are meant to keep your lipstick in place, keep lipstick from bleeding, define the shape and help them look more natural. Do not try to change the shape of your lips by going outside the natural line.

* Dark lipsticks will make small lips appear smaller.

Beautiful Skin 101

Most women shy away from being called 'too sensitive.' But when the subject is kin, they're all too willing to wear the scarlet S. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, at least 40% of women believe they have sensitive skin, although most dermatologists report that only a fraction really do. Sensitivity defined as skin that's prone to irritation from products, weather, or stress is a real (albeit misunderstood) condition. It's not the same as an allergy. It means you have a lower tolerance for irritating ingredients, such as fragrances and dyes. The evil twist here is that the more skin reacts, the more sensitive it becomes. Imagine normal skin having a natural barrier like Saran Wrap. People with sensitive skin have a disrupted barrier all the time. But by identifying what disrupts that barrier and protecting it with the right moisturizer, you can develop a thicker skin.

Read Labels: Before applying creams, lotions, or makeup, read the ingredients list. The fewer ingredients on the label, the better. All products and formulas should be free of fragrance, dye, and isopropyl alcohol (commonly known as rubbing alcohol). And beware of botanical ingredients and oils. Test each new product on the side of your neck for a few days before using it on your face.

Cleanse: Wash you face with a milky, non-foaming liquid cleanser or a soap-free bar. Do not use a washcloth or any rough scrubber, which can be too abrasive for sensitive skin. Rinse face well by splashing with lukewarm water and pat with a soft towel, leaving skin slightly damp. There is no need to use a toner, which generally contains drying and irritating isopropyl alcohol.

Moisturize: Dab moisturizer onto damp skin in the morning and night. Look for one that contains ceramides, fatty acids, or cholesterol, all of which help form a protective barrier against irritation. In the morning, when the moisturizer is absorbed, apply a sunscreen (with an SPF 15 or higher). It should also contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, which are least likely to cause reactions. Cheat Sheet

Choose the right products. 'Allergy-tested' means it doesn't have ingredients that cause common reactions. 'Noncomedogenic' means it won't clog pores.

Read labels. Not everyone with sensitive skin is troubled by the same thing, but the most common irritants, in order, include fragrance, isopropyl alcohol, dyes, PABA, lanolin, sorbic acid, formaldehyde, and benzoic acid. Don't assume that natural products are safe. Some botanicals (rosemary, sandalwood, arnica) and essential oils (jojoba, tea tree, lavender) may irritate.

Test samples on the neck for several days. If they don't irritate you, they'll probably be fine for your face. Don't try an arsenal of new products at once. Similarly, if skin breaks out, stop using everything, and reintroduce products one by one.

Be as gentle as possible. Use a creamy, liquid cleanser or a soap-free bar and rinse with lukewarm water. Avoid Buf-Pufs and washcloths. Pat with a towel and leave skin slightly damp.

Moisturize with a product for sensitive skin, or one that contains fatty acids, cholesterol, and ceramides. Every day, be sure to apply a PABA-free sunscreen that contains titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Daily Basics

Wash with a milky, non-foaming liquid.
Use a soap-free formula with oatmeal that calms dry and itchy skin.
For day, use a fragrance-free moisturizer containing a non-irritating sunscreen. At night, smooth on a noncomedogenic formula that helps fortify the skin's barrier while you sleep.
Dermatologists say that sensitive-skin sufferers are more likely to avoid using sunscreens, associating them with past reactions to PABA. Choose one that won't aggravate skin.
It's not just what you put on your face. Hair spray can cause breakouts along the hairline. Use an allergy-tested and keep the hair off the face whenever possible.

Extra Help

To soothe redness, dermatologists recommend using a fragrance-free treatment. A dime-size dab of an over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone cream also relieves itching.
For dryness on the body, increase resistance to the environment with a product containing lipids, which is safe for sensitive types.
To treat blemishes, start with an irritant-free face lotion that minimizes blotches with vitamin A. Follow with a concealer that won't aggravate acne, which does double duty by helping clear and conceal blemishes.
Dermatologists like products that get their color from iron oxides, which are less likely to cause reactions. They're also talc-free, which means they won't rob skin of the moisture it needs.

Tricks of the Trade

Don't' shower or bathe for more than 20 minutes, or you'll dry out your skin. Use lukewarm water.
Don't start any aggressive treatments during the winter, when skin is dryer and more sensitive because of low humidity and indoor heating. A humidifier helps skin from becoming parched.
Grainy or chemical exfoliants can cause breakouts. Excessive daily scrubbing rubs the sebaceous glands, which can clog pores. Use a clay or mud mask to slough off dead cells instead.
Facials are trouble unless they're simple, steam-free, and employ fragrance-free products.
Avoid chemical peels and laser treatments if you're sensitive to exfoliants and skin-lightening creams.
If acne medications irritate your skin, ask your doctor about taking oral antibiotics or birth-control pills, which can help minimize blemishes.
Keep Retin-A treatments to only once a week. Dilute the strength by mixing it with your moisturizer.
For skin that seems provoked by anything and everything, ask you dermatologist about cleansers and moisturizers that are normally prescribed for hypersensitive postsurgery and postpeel patients.

Detoxification for Health & Wellness ? The Missing Key

Detoxification is something our bodies do on a daily basis. It is the process of eliminating toxins through the five eliminatory channels:

Liver
Colon
Lungs
Kidneys
Lymph
Skin

In the world we live in today, with polluted water, air and food, our bodies regularly get overloaded with substances that do not support our body - toxins! Our bodies become overloaded and are over-burdened with eliminating toxins. So many undesirable substances stay our bodies. Surrounding these substances with mucous and fat is one way our system tries to shield us from these invading substances. a good portion is stored in our fat deposits! A detoxification program is a good way of assisting our body to eliminate and neutralize these harmful toxins.

Let us look at the 5 organs for detoxification:

Liver

The liver is the largest internal organ in the body and plays a crucial role in maintaining normal metabolism and detoxifying the body.

Colon

Disease begins in the colon. The colon is responsible for both carrying wastes out of the body and nourishing the body. Nutrients are absorbed in the colon. So if your body is storing toxins and excess mucous they will be stuck to the intestinal walls of the colon. Making it very hard for your body to absorb the required nutrients and eliminate the wastes traveling through the colon.

Lungs

Your lungs are responsible for helping your body get the required oxygen it needs by processing the air we breathe. The lungs are one of the first organs to intake toxins. A cold is usually a sign that your body is trying to rid itself of toxins and waste matter that has built up to the point of overwhelming your immune system.

Kidneys

The kidneys play an important role as a filter for the body as well. Water is vital to helping the kidneys do their job. The average person eliminates approximately 5 pints of water a day. Drinking adequate water is essential.

Lymph

The lymphatic system carries a clear fluid which contains excess proteins, wastes, and other elements. This fluid called lymph surrounds the cells of our body to bring them nourishment and carry wastes out of the body. Unlike the blood, the lymph does not have the heart to pump it through the body. It must rely on the movement of the body and stimulation.

Skin

As mentioned earlier, the skin is the largest organ of the body.

Benefits of Detoxification

There are several benefits of detoxification:

  • End your cravings for habit-forming substances such as sugar, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and drugs.
  • Increase your energy by removing toxins that wear you down.
  • Shrink your stomach to its normal size, making it easier to control the quantity of food eaten.
  • Boost your mental clarity by flushing away chemicals, food additives and preservatives.
  • Break your bad eating habits to achieve or maintain your desired weight.
  • Lose weight. A detox program is the first step to safe and effective weight loss.
  • Cleanse your digestive tract of accumulated waste and bacteria.
  • Purify all your major organs allowing you to function at your best.
  • Reduce cellulite, allergies, acne and obesity safely and naturally.
  • What is a good Detox program?

A Good Detoxification program should be designed to help the body cleanse itself of toxins, mucus, and waste materials in the intestinal tract and liver, kidneys, and blood, thus helping your body function better. This not only restores new energy to your vital organs, but to the entire body as well.

Free Radicals: Destructive Scavengers and the Vital Role Antioxidants Play

Several years ago, it was all over the news. Free radicals were damaging - we all had them, and antioxidants were the solution. But what role really do free radicals play in damaging the body, and how are we supposed to best get rid of them? How do antioxidants work and what is the best way of adding them to our diet?

24 hours a day, while the body is constantly working, cells are metabolizing and creating energy as they carry out their tasks. This natural process results in free radicals, the same way driving to work in your car creates exhaust fumes. Some free radicals are natural byproducts of the ongoing workings of the body. Some are from environmental factors, such as pollution, radiation, and cigarette smoke.

A free radical is simply a molecule that is missing an electron. As soon as a molecule loses one of its attached electrons, it becomes unstable and seeks to re-stabilize itself by stealing an electron from the nearest molecule. This causes the attacked molecule to then become a free radical, and starts a chain reaction. Ultimately as the process continues this can lead to cell damage.

Free radicals become extremely damaging to the body as they steal electrons from your cells. They begin to spread like a wildfire through the years if your body does not have enough antioxidants to keep them in check. They can attack cell walls, get inside the cell, and cause damage to the DNA. This leads to cancer. Cancer is defined as a degenerative stress condition, and we can understand this better when we understand the role free radicals play.

The brain is the most active part of the body. It uses the most energy, and therefore is subject to bombardment with the most free radicals. The significance of this is not only that we feel negative effects in our mind - such as feeling tired and muddled - but also because brain is very important in its control of so many of the vital workings of our bodies.

When a free radical attacks, it can get into the cell and cause the mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell, to die or cease to function fully. This can disrupt one of a multitude of processes. A dead or poorly functioning mitochondria in a cell can disrupt or slow down neuronal firing. Mental illness is largely due to imbalances in the neuronal processes of our natural brain chemistry. A poorly working or dead mitochondria can prevent certain natural functions from working, causing symptoms like hormonal imbalance.

Untreated, the damage from free radicals accumulates with age. They are the cause of many degenerative diseases, and are associated with many of the signs of the aging process.

Antioxidants are molecules loaded with extra free electrons. When we have enough antioxidants the free radicals get their electrons from the antioxidants in our body, rather than stealing them from our cells.

The body is naturally built to handle free radicals. Antioxidants are found in the vitamins A, C and E in the fruits and vegetables we eat. However even eating the 5-8 recommended servings a day, or using supplements still often does not do enough to combat the massive free radical damage.

Antioxidants from Vitamins E, C, and A actually pale in comparison to the phytonutrient antioxidants such as those found in red wine and blueberries. This is the reason for the French paradox, why it is being recommended to drink wine, eat chocolate, and drink green tea. They provide better sources of antioxidants.

There is an even better source: the newly discovered acai berry, of the Brazilian rainforest. It provides antioxidants in strengths 33 times more powerful than red wine. It floods the body with massive amounts of antioxidants and other essential nutrients. The acai berry is the number one ingredient for anti-aging recommended by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, in his book the Perricone Promise.

The acai berry can be best added to the diet in liquid form. A small dose of several ounces daily will flood the body with the vital antioxidants it needs. The acai berry is the best way to add to your diet the most powerful antioxidants combating free radical damage.

Carina MacInnes is a writer and entrepreneur who chooses for her daily antioxidant supplement a powerful nutrient packed juice containing vital amounts of the acai berry. Bounce Back From the Wintertime Blahs With A ThreeDay Cleansing Diet

Wintertime leaves a lot of us feeling blah and washed out. Our skin gets dry and pale, our eyes can seem dull and lifeless ? and let?s not even get started with the foods we eat.

Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas parties and New Year?s Eve ? all came with plenty of rich, decadent dishes and calorie-laden cocktails. It?s no wonder that by the time spring arrives, we could really use a pick-me-up.

And those are just a few of the things a quick cleanse can remedy. Have you been plagued by chronic constipation, allergies, sinusitis, or any other chronic aches and pains? If you?re tired of relying on over-the-counter medications to make it through day to day life, there might just be an unexpected culprit ? blockage(s) in your body?s elimination system.

Basically, what this means is that you might be suffering from mucus and other wastes building up in your body?s major routes of elimination:

    ?Your lungs
    ?Your pores
    ?Your kidneys, and
    ?Your bowels.

Getting rid of this waste build-up will better allow your body to get the most out of your regular diet ? a bit like the performance difference you see between low- and high-octane fuel.

Important Things to Consider Before You Begin...
Of course, the three day cleansing diet isn?t for everyone. Some people may be too weak or may suffer from conditions that make the cleansing diet too dangerous to undertake. For this reason, it?s important to stress how vital it is to first consult with your doctor before you begin a new dietary regiment.

Also, I can?t stress enough that this is a diet to help you cleanse your system out, not too help you lose weight. Misuse could be extremely hazardous to your health!

Now that we?ve covered the basics, let?s delve on into the specifics of the cleansing diet.

    The Diet in a Nutshell...

While you may come across several different variations of the 3 day cleansing diet, here are some of the things they?ll all have in common:

?You?ll have to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water each day
?When it comes to foods, be ready to restrict your diet to 5-6 servings of fruits and vegetables each day, preferably raw or steamed.
?In case you didn?t get the hint, that means NO meat.
?If you do opt for breads or cereals (and you probably shouldn?t), it?s important that you only chose whole grains
?During this 72 hour period, it?s important to avoid sugars, coffees, and sodas. If you?re afraid you?ll suffer from headaches from caffeine withdrawals, you might want to begin slowly reducing your coffee intake prior to the ?fast.?

    The Cleansing Diet in Action...

While there are many different variations of the cleansing diet being touted by various different experts, most of them follow a pattern that looks something like this:

Day 1 ? A complete food fast, water only
Day 2 ? 5 or 6 servings of fruit and fruit juice only (water is still a must)
Day 3 ? 5 or 6 servings of vegetables and veggie juice only (water is still a must)

Types of Acne Treatment Solutions For Your Skin

Treating your acne can be an overwhelming task what with all of the medications available these days. The best way to find treatment for your acne is to first learn about your skin. There are 3 main skin types. Knowing what type of skin you have is the first step to effectively controlling your acne. If your skin is oily a gel product is best; if it is dry, you should choose a cream based product. People with sensitive skin should choose products with lower concentrations of active ingredients.

It may be best to visit a dermatologist when choosing acne treatments. With so many different factors affecting what causes acne and there are so many treatments to choose from you may feel more comfortable getting the help of a professional when making your decision.

If you would rather control acne your own way, understand that it is very important to read all labels and always, always use as directed. As with all medications, educate yourself on any side-effects or warnings.

Acne treatments are available in several different ways including:

    - Prescription Medications
    - Creams and Gels
    - Facial Masks
    - Topical Treatments
    - Over-the-Counter Treatments
    - Home Remedies

    Prescription Medications

Oral antibiotics (tablets), taken daily for around 3 months, can be prescribed for inflammatory acne. These pills act to kill off the bacteria infecting the skin. However, it may take four to six months for the benefits to be seen. For women, a standard combined oral contraceptive pill (containing an estrogen and a progestogen) can improve acne symptoms. Antibiotics do not prevent pores from becoming blocked so treatment to prevent blackheads, such as benzoyl peroxide, is often also prescribed at the same time.

    Creams and Gels

Lotions that contain benzoyl peroxide dry out the skin and encourage it to shed the surface layer of dead skin. Benzoyl peroxide also has an antibacterial action. Together, these effects make it harder for pores to become blocked and for infection to develop. When used as directed, these products can make a big difference to the overall appearance of your skin.

    Facial Masks

Facial masks can be a great addition to your basic skin care regimen by offering extra deep cleaning and exfoliation to troubled skin. Masks send a concentrated dose of proven acne fighters to your skin and deliver them deep down. A good facial mask can act to keep even the most troubled skin clean and clear, reducing the frequency and severity of breakouts.

There are several benefits of using clay masks. As a facial clay mask dries it tightens the skin, shrinks the pores and naturally pulls excess oils and impurities such as whiteheads and blackheads from your skin.

    Topical Treatments

Topical antibiotics work by killing the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. This helps reduce the small infections in the pores, and also indirectly keeps the pores open.

    Over the counter Treatments

Over-the-counter remedies are available anywhere from your local pharmacy to the grocery store and are intended to treat mild to moderate acne. These treatments include the creams and gels mentioned previously.

    Home treatment

It's important to keep spot-prone areas clean, so wash the affected area twice a day with an un-perfumed cleanser. Never, ever pick a zit! This could lead to scarring as well as spread the infection. No home treatments for acne will work immediately. It can take weeks, if not months, for significant effects to be noticeable. Never sleep in makeup and wash your face in the morning when you wake up and at night before you go to bed.

    Fat Acceptance

With tons of information out there on ?Fat Acceptance? does it do more harm than good? Being body positive and body fat are two different topics. South Beach Diet may work for one but not the other.

How can one confuse having a body positive attitude than with a ?Fat Acceptance One? Are you really fat and happy? Most women are in emotional pain around their body size but to hail on for ?Fat Acceptance? is a no-no, neither should one be ostracized for be overweight or fat.

This is more than just a debatable topic of ?Fat Acceptance? what about health. Can you really sit and tell yourself you like wearing a size 22 and find the extra ?Pinch an Inch? to be conformable and contrite? Can you feel both? Ask yourself, deep inside, how you really feel.

So where is the ?happy medium?? Eye Candy yes, waif like magazine models perhaps not, but some women are naturally thin. Shows like ?The Biggest Loser?, ?Fat Actress? make fun of those who do not fit into the cookie cuter world of what we deem as ?Eye Candy?.

We should all be accepted and not ostracized for size, and looks. ?Size acceptance? and ?Fat Acceptance? are two different issues here. Yes, promote size, we all come in different shapes, but promote ?Fat?? What about health?

We strongly condemn any diet marketing strategy based on guilt and unrealistic expectations, says Peggy Howell, a spokesperson for the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance. Such approaches cause untold suffering to fat people by ruining their self-esteem.?

    This would fall under stapling!?!

However some sites, and blogs take this too far, can you be happy, fat, and un-healthy at any size?

Why make this harder than it has to be, follow the BMI chart. However getting within our range can be difficult, while women and men, work their way from a high BMI to a lower healthy one, we should accept people of all sizes, ?Size Acceptance? but not promote fat. Promote Health, Size and not Fat.

A Guide to Hair Salon Equipment

Hair salons require many different types of equipment to ensure the business is run efficiently. Because many different items are required, it is not necessary that each piece of salon equipment be new. It is possible to find good quality, used hair salon equipment that will serve the purpose of new equipment.

Basic hair salon equipment consists of styling chairs, shampoo chairs, washbasins, hair dryers, mirrors, and trolley carts. These pieces of equipment are available in a large variety of styles. Many salons opt to purchase basic, inexpensive, equipment that is simply functional. Other salons choose to purchase equipment that works toward creating a certain feel or ambiance in their salon. There are many retailers that specialize solely in ?high end? designer hair salon equipment. For an additional cost, these pieces can be customized to match a salon?s d?cor and color scheme.

Many salons are expanding the services they offer clients by adding in day spa services. Day spa services may include manicures, pedicures, tanning, facials, waxing, and massages. When these types of services are offered there is specific hair salon equipment that must be added to the salon?s equipment inventory. Many of the items are pieces of equipment that are quite costly. For example, a new pedicure station can cost a few thousand dollars, prompting some salon owners to purchase used hair salon equipment to save money. For this reason, used hair salon equipment is a rapidly expanding business.

When salons expand the services they offer they often choose to sell hair care, skin, and body products. To appropriately display the items they must purchase display racks. The type of display racks they choose will depend on the size of the inventory that will be displayed and how much square footage they have to dedicate to the display. Hair salon equipment retailers typically offer a large selection of display tables, racks, and shelving for sale.

There are a growing number of retailers that specialize in selling used hair salon equipment. Many of these retailers are easily found online through search engines. Much of the used equipment that is offered is in very good condition and is a good investment for a salon owner. Used hair salon equipment is a wise choice, particularly for a new salon owner who is just starting out.

Salon Equipment Info provides detailed information about beauty, hair, nail, tanning salon equipment, as well as wholesale and discount salon equipment. Salon Equipment Info is the sister site of Hair Extensions Web.

90% of all Women do their Makeup Wrong!

The reason why 90% of women do their make-up wrong is the complexity of techniques created over the last one hundred years as makeup artist as a rule use the subjective method and not the objective method. To further elaborate on this subject you are at the hands of a sole creation within the mind of an artist and how they perceive you or you are doing your own makeup application and you also use the subjective method that you have learned from books, magazines or your self creation of what you think makes you look good. The problem is you are inside looking out and not outside looking in. You see what you want not necessarily what really is going on.

The correct method of make-up application involves the objective method, which means you need rules to follow and a guide to all the variables contained there in. There are 10 rules to makeup application and these rules are fool proof, however if you break one rule you will do your makeup incorrect and will have defeated your purpose.

To the best of my knowledge I am the only research makeup artist who has spent 10 years of research and development of the ten rules that work on all women of the world, this means every face shape, skin tone skin hue, blending colors, non-blending colors and perhaps more importantly the in-between colors you have never considered, as well as the missing variables never put in print to this very day! This is the research that has been brought forward to the 21st century. Note: The 10 rules are not in this article, watch for them in future articles.

Once you learn your focal points and point-of-view and have a special tool that will guide you to the center of your face, your on your way to the perfect you and the ability to appear up to 7 years younger with the correct array of color choices that suit you own needs. Once you know the10 rules you can return to the subjective method, because you will be able to create any look or facial creation you so chose knowing that you will look amazing to say the least.

Here are a few makeup tips: If you have brown eyes never use blue eye shadow why you ask, well brown and blue are clashing colors and are also not-blending colors these colors together are not even close in the color spectrum nor can they create a balance to eye art in any way, however these colors can be used in fashion when the correct hues are mixed with a blending color. For eye art they are never to be used together.

If you ware red lipstick and you are not a true winter season you will washout your focal points and the point of view, as well as clash to tonal balance to skin tone and hue, a bad choice and the color red has sexual connotations and always have since the early 50?s all light skin such as summer and springs should never ware red also if you have red hues or tones to your skin, this color will have to much contrast and will washout. The only thing people will see is your lipstick need I say more, OK I will, red is harsh and is not a blending color to a women?s face in less your skin tone is very dark like ebony. Red depicts an aging factor to all women at any age it draws your viewer to a closer look to your age lines smile lines and frown lines, I don?t think you want to do this do you? If you are 14 years old and want to look older just use bright red lipstick and you will appear at least 5 years older. Dark red lipstick will age you even more.

Oil based foundation must be used with great caution as they clog your pores, this will be a paradox statement in that it does have one positive use and that is, it won?t aloud environmental impurities to penetrate your sheer mantle of skin. If you use it be sure to clean your face well and use the standard regime before application and only use an application that covers your face in a good balance to create the frame of your face don?t load it on. The newer foundations with a water base are better for you all around.

Lipstick tips: If your lipstick does not have built in sun screen apply some to your lips before the application, if you are out in the sun anything that shines draws the sun to that area and will make your lips chapped.

Blush Tips: This application is the biggest abuse of make-up application and has been for many years your goal is not to look like a clown but rather healthily this means a natural look. If you follow the guidelines of most make-up artist and magazines in print today you will have done it incorrect. Why you ask? I will tell you blush has only one place on your face and that is the apple of your check bone, not on your forehead, nose, and chin if you read this from an artist they are using methods that are outdated some one hundred years and in some cases longer than that.

The correct technique is to purchase a good brush and pick the correct color hue to your skin tone of course you must first know all the variables there in; as too are you a solid season or a crossover to dual season, this can be very complex at times but not for everyone. If you choose the wrong blush hue or tone you will age your self and destroy all makeup application, because the only thing that will stand out is your misuse of blush. If some one tells you to use plumb, deep rose or anything darker you must be a winter to the depth of ebony, should you be spring, summer or fall they are wrong!

The major makeup companies don?t know anything about blush; they just sell what you buy in fact you control the colors they make by buying them. Did you know allot of women have facial hair regardless of it being blond or very light, hair holds abuse amounts of blush this is why it is important to apply it always in a down ward stroke and before doing so always tap the excess blush on the brush by tapping it over a paper plate.

While making fish lips apply it on the upper check bone only and always finish with a natural translucent power on you entire face, this is the setting of makeup application and the end of the center of your face, which are your own best features. Now if you follow what others tell you and put blush on you forehead, nose chin or any other place you have done your makeup wrong. Honest is the best policy it never returns to bite you and this is why I am giving you tad bits of information. The end results of blush should be a slight color change to your skin hue and tone. The rule is a soft change that is not noticeable to the human eye, yet enough color to make you appear healthily. Here ends this tad bit of information I hope it was food for thought Serjame.

    Botox The Temporary Wrinkle Solution

Botox has made a huge splash in the health and beauty market because of its ability to erase and minimize wrinkles. The stunning success of the BOTOX solution has had beauty enthusiasts lining up to receive their wrinkle treatments. Are botox treatments safe? After all BoTOX is a protein toxin produced by clostridium botulinum bacteria. This is the first cousin to the deadly botulism bacteria.

Botox has been safely used by opthamoligists for over a decade without any serious side effects being reported. This drug has actually been around since the early 1960?s. Originally it was used as a treatment for crossed eyes. The manner in which botox works is that it is injected into the muscle where the wrinkles appear. When the botox is injected into the muscle the frown lines, crow?s feet and laugh lines temporarily disappear. I stress the use of the word ?temporary? because a botox treatment normally lasts about 3 to 6 months. Botox treatments were approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a treatment of muscles that produce frown lines.

Botox injections have quickly become the fastest growing cosmetic procedure and are anticipated to be used on over 4.5 million patients in 2006. They are more popular than breast augmentation. Current botox patients report that after several treatments that the effects of this wrinkle cure last much longer. It is important to note that Botox is ineffective for fine wrinkles because fine wrinkles do not appear because of facial expression caused by facial muscles. On the flipside, the one negative of botox treatments is a slight and temporary drooping of the eyelid. At the present time this appears to be the most important side effect of botox treatment.

While botox has been safely used by millions of patients, it is recommended that pregnant women, or women who are breastfeeding their babies as well as patients suffering from neurologic disease should never use botox.

Botox treatments do not work for everyone. However, over 90% of patients who have been surveyed are extremely happy with this procedure. This temporary cure for wrinkles has created quite a bit of excitement in the health and beauty field. This procedure is administered by qualified plastic surgeons. The average cost for a simple botox treatment is about $200 - $400 for each area that it is applied to.

    The Fundamental Of Fitness

Physical fitness is a set of features a person has in regard to his ability to perform physical activities that require endurance, strength or flexibility and is determined by a combination of regular activity or exercise and genetically inherited ability. It also measures the ability to carry out daily tasks with vigor and without undue fatigue and with sufficient energy to engage in leisure-time pursuits and the vitality to perform at one?s fullest capacity.

Physical fitness is achieved by regular physical activity, proper diet and nutrition and proper rest for physical recovery within the parameters allowed by the genome.

Physical fitness is often divided into following types:

Flexibility: Joint rotation, Static stretching and Dynamic Stretching are all the various forms of flexibility exercises used in warm up.

Cardiovascular endurance: Aerobic capacity describes the functional status of the cardio-respiratory system which includes the heart, lungs or blood vessels. It is defined as the maximum volume of oxygen which can be consumed by ones muscles during exercise. The higher a cardio-respiratory endurance level, the more oxygen is transported to exercising muscles and longer exercise can be maintained without exhaustion which means a higher the level of aerobic fitness.

Muscular strength & endurance: Weight training is a form of exercise for developing the strength and size of skeletal muscles which can provide significant functional benefits and improvement in overall health and well-being.

Body Composition: In physical fitness, body composition is used to describe the percentages of fat, bone and muscle in human bodies. The percentage of fat is of most interest because it can be very helpful in judging health in addition to body weight.

An average healthy male's body should have 12~18 percent fat while in females it is 14~ 20 percent fat. Body fat percentage can be measured in several ways. The most common method is by using measurement calipers to measure the thickness of subcutaneous fat in multiple places on the body. Another method is Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA), which uses the resistance of electrical flow through the body to estimate body fat.

Agility: Agility is the ability to change the body's direction efficiently, and this requires a combination of balance, coordination, speed, and strength.

Balance: Equilibrioception or sense of balance is one of the physiological senses which allow humans to walk without falling. When the sense of balance is disrupted, it causes dizziness, disorientation and nausea.

Speed: Some biological factors that can determine a sprinter's potential are muscular strength, adrenaline use and anaerobic respiration capacity

Task-oriented fitness: A person is said to be physically fit for a particular task with a reasonable efficiency, for example, fit for military service.

Beauty Style And Magnetism Start With SelfEsteem

Beauty, style, fashion, attractiveness, magnetism and sex appeal aren't just skin-deep. They start with your self-image ? the way you see yourself.

Do an Internet search, and you'll find advice on clothes, style, skin-care, hair and lots of other ideas designed to help to make you irresistible. Many of them are excellent, and well worth using.

That makes it easy to believe that's all there is to being beautiful, but the truth is that whatever you put on the outside is just the icing on the cake.

What really makes the difference, and puts the kind of spring in your step and sparkle in your eyes that gets you noticed, is what's inside... that means, the way you feel about yourself.

Even for a supermodel or a movie star, without the ability to project superb self-confidence, all the designer clothes and make-up in the world would be a total waste of time.

Well, the great news is that all that poise and confidence, that radiance and inner sparkle, all the qualities that draw attention and admiration like a magnet, are available to everyone ?- including you.

More than that, they're actually your birthright, simply as a part of being human!

The keys to expressing the radiant beauty you were born to show are very simple ones:-

    1. Get rid, right here and now, of any idea you might have that you're less attractive than other people. You can be as radiantly beautiful as anyone alive ?- and it all starts with believing that you can;

    2. Practice deep relaxation for at least half an hour, once or twice a day. This gets rid of stress and boosts your energy and sparkle;

    3. Get plenty of sleep. Partying's great fun, but if you don't recharge your batteries sufficiently it can take a powerful toll on how you look (and feel about yourself);

    4. Have a healthy lifestyle. Cigarettes, or too much alcohol, junk food and illegal substances will ruin your looks as surely as they'll wreck your health;

    5. Take some exercise. Yoga or t'ai chi will tone your muscles, change your shape (you get to choose the changes that you want to make), and give you much more poise and gracefulness;

    6. One thing the most attractive people have in common is the ability to make the person that they're talking to feel like the most important person in the room. The way to do that is to focus on that person, not yourself. Make eye contact, and really listen to what they have to say. Their reaction will make you feel so good you'll really sparkle;

    7. Choose a style that works for you. You will always look and feel much better in a style that suits your personality than one that doesn't, no matter which designer's name is on the label;

    8. Make good use of color. Again, what matters is what suits you, not what the High Street shops are trying to sell you;

    9. Hold your head up high, and walk tall. It makes you feel a lot more poised and confident, and that will show. People who feel good about themselves and how they look don't need to blend into the crowd and hide themselves away; and

    10. Keep a definite picture in your mind of exactly what you want to look like, and the graceful poise and radiant, magnetic beauty that you want to show the world. If you hold that picture strongly enough, your inner mind will help you to achieve it, and hold on to it, as quickly and effortlessly as possible.

    Bridal Beauty

It?s natural to want everything perfect on your wedding day. That?s why it?s important to have your makeup look selected and perfected long before the big day arrives. Take the time to call in the experts. Call a local Beauty Consultant. The beauty of Beauty Consultants is that they make house calls. Finding a beauty consultant near you is simple, first check with your local salon, ask a friend, or check the internet for beauty consultants in your area. Some charge a fee for their consultative services, others only charge for products purchased. Mary Kay Cosmetics is one such company whose Independent Consultants do not typically charge for a consultation. The bride and her bridal party are free to try out a skin care program and color look with no obligation. Independent Beauty Consultants can easily be found via the internet on the Mary Kay Corporate Website at www.MaryKay.com.

The next step after finding the right beauty professional is to choose your color look in advance. Choosing your look is as important as choosing your gown. Don?t wait until the last minute to decide what makeup look to wear for your portrait or your wedding day. Choose products with a matte finish. Too much glitter and sparkle may interfere with your portraits, leaving you looking shiny or sweaty. Your complexion may be dewy, but we recommend a matte finish for your bridal portrait. You may want to switch to a creme-to-powder foundation, but if not, be sure to set your foundation with loose powder. If you have extremely oily skin, you can apply Oil Mattifier before your foundation.

By all means...don't forget about the condition of your skin! Start a skin care program that will get your skin looking and feeling smooth, soft and radiant for your big day. Do this well in advance for ultimate results. I suggest you start at least six months prior. After all, if your skin is not in its healthiest condition, no amount of makeup can hide it.

Define your eyes in smoky shades. Try eyeliner in a sable brown or charcoal, and apply lightly along the upper and lower lashes. Be sure to smudge and blend the eyeliner to keep your eyes looking soft and pretty. For eye shadows, choose soft, neutral shades that enhance your natural eye color ? not compete with it. You want the attention to be on your natural beauty not your make-up. Again, stick with eye shadows with a matte finish.

Your cheeks should reveal a soft natural glow, dust a light pink to the apples of your cheeks if your skin is fair, and choose a rose shade if your skin is beige to bronze. Blend upward toward your hairline following your cheekbone. Remember not to overapply on the apples of your cheeks. I'm sure you've heard of the term blushing bride, but you don't want to look like you are burning up inside. Follow with a light dusting of loose powder to set the look.

Your can improve the look and feel of your lips by using exfoliating products in the weeks prior to the big day. Select an creme lipstick to keep your lips feeling moisturized, choose a neutral lip liner and finish with a layer of lip gloss. You may even use the lip liner to fill in your entire lip before applying lipstick for staying power.

Relax and enjoy your big day!

The Miracles Of Tea Tree Oil For Skin And Hair Care

Tea tree, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA, native to Australia, is a tree or shrub with needle like leaves similar in appearance to cypress with heads of sessile pale flowers. The popular tea tree oil is derived from this tree. The aborigines of Australia have been known to have used the tea tree oil to treat a range of ailments from colds, sores to acne and even whooping cough.

Extensively used in aromatherapy, the leaves when crushed release essential oils of varying amounts and constituents. The oil is so potent that it can be diluted up to many times its volume and it still manages to retain its effectiveness all the same. Although the benefits of tea tree oil are numerous, for beauty treatments, it?s been found effective in skin and hair care. The following sections describe the uses of Tea Tree Oil for skin care and hair care.

Tea tree oil for skin care

Tea tree oil has been used effectively to treat acne, abscess, athlete's foot, blisters, burns, cold sores, insect bites, oily skin, rashes, spots, warts and wounds. You can use tea tree oil to cure sunburns, diaper rash, toenail infections and problems of smelly feet.

Tea tree oil for hair care

Add a few drops of Tea tree oil to your regular shampoo to treat hair problems like persistent dandruff, itchy-scalp and even prevent head-lice. Massage it in, leave it on for 5-7 minutes and rinse off. Adding a few drops in pet shampoo/bath helps keep tics and rashes at bay.

Other benefits of tea tree oil Fed-up with allopathic medicines? Packets of antibiotics that have gone down your throat seem to be of no use? The only things you find they have lightened are your pockets? Well, don't panic, help is at hand, Tea Tree oil can be used to treat a variety of medical problems. A great remedy to soothe your sinuses; dab a drop of tea tree oil around your nose can help clear up blocked sinuses.

Add a few drops in a steam bath or vaporizer and inhale, a great relief for persistent colds and cough. Regular use of tea tree oil has been found to be effective in treating Asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, cough, sinusitis and even tuberculosis.

Tea tree oil is a great general disinfectant and can be effectively used to treat genito-urinary tract infections such as thrush, vaginitis, cystitis and pruitis. Tea tree oil has properties that act as a immune booster. It helps equip the body to fight off a host of infections. Using tea tree oil is particularly effective if the body is already in a weakened condition due to illness, stress or prolonged treatment-involving antibiotics that lead to a reduction of the body's natural resistance.

Using tea tree oil prior to a surgical operation or for those suffering from long-drawn debilitating illness has been found to be beneficial. The anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties have seen tea tree oil being used extensively in soaps, toothpastes, deodorants, disinfectants, gargles, germicides, aftershaves and colognes. Tea tree oil is safe to use, as it is non-toxic and non-irritant.

Although tea tree oil has no known side effects, some individuals may be sensitive to it. This calls for consideration of the strength of tea tree oil and should never be used undiluted on the body and particularly on sensitive areas.

Kevin Pederson has been managing a number of natural home remedies websites which have information on home based natural cures and references to some of the very useful oils like tea tree oils which are very good for your skin and hair .

What To Expect After A Nose Job

Cosmetic surgery on the nose is a commonly performed procedure. If you decide to have it, you need to know what to expect after a nose job.

What to Expect After A Nose Job

After a lot of research, you have finally decided to get nose job. Of course, you've heard about the surgery itself, the costs involved, and the expectations you can have as results from this type of plastic surgery. The next thing you should consider is what to expect after nose job.

Your image immediately following surgery will be startling. You will be bruised and swollen after it has been completed. You probably won't like what you see in the mirror. Your nose might be packed with gauze. You will have a cast on your nose to support the healing nasal structure. Your doctor will tell you whether or not to keep ice or cold compresses on your nose, some people feel that bags of frozen peas make a good ice pack, as they mold to your face.

Your nose will be stuffed up, and you'll have to breathe through your mouth. You'll also feel some pain from the procedure, and you may become nauseous or throw up. This can happen either from swallowing blood during the surgery, or from the after-effects of anesthesia. In five to seven days, your surgeon will remove the cast from your nose and you'll be able to see your new nasal area. It will still be bruised and swollen, and you'll want to take care to not jostle or hit your healing nose, as it will hurt.

In about ten days (longer if you're a smoker), your bruises will fade and you should feel ready to face the public if you haven't done so already. You might want to cover any remaining bruises with color-corrective cosmetics. Your surgeon will often make recommendations regarding which cosmetics are right for your skin type and bruising pattern.

It can take two to four months for all swelling to go down from the surgery. In some cases, it can take up to a year before you'll know exactly what your nose is going to look like. Some people become upset with the look of their post-operative nose in these first months, as crookedness and bumps may show up during the healing process. Most surgeons recommend against going through any other procedures, such as revisions, for at least nine months after having nose job. The healing process can simply take this long, so you will need to have some patience.

Nose job is the type of plastic surgery that has a very high success rate. In this case, success is defined as meeting the reasonable results the surgeon predicted prior to the surgery. That being said, you have to understand what to expect after nose job and have some patience.

Yoke Hatha Yoga with the Raw Foods for Superb Health

Since writing my two books, Beautiful On Raw: UnCooked Creations and Your Right to Be Beautiful: How to Halt the Train of Aging and Meet the Most Beautiful You, about my exploration and acceptance of the raw food lifestyle, I have added another important dimension to my health regimen. Hatha Yoga. I firmly believe that Hatha yoga practice has to be an integrated part of the raw food lifestyle.

I discovered and converted to the raw lifestyle in an effort to gain the peak of health, endurance and healing that I needed to ensure that I would be able to maximize the results of my upcoming surgical ordeal.

I was born in Russia with congenital hip problems that could not be corrected. For 45 years, I lived with one leg shorter than the other. I looked and felt like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. After immigrating to the United States, I prepared for the surgery that would ultimately replace my hips and allow me to walk without a limp. I was so accustomed to my tilt that when I was at last straight, I felt as though I were going to topple over at anytime.

I was thrilled with the results of the surgery and felt that much of my ability to heal from such massive trauma was from being on the raw food diet. I had to take private yoga lessons that worked with my limitations but I have improved tremendously and would not give it up anymore than I would go back to eating cooked food.

Yoga and the raw food diet offer many similarities in the ways they benefit the body. Yoga books describe the same euphoric experiences I have found in the raw food diet. Both purify and heal the body. Both offer powerful therapeutic effects in dealing with physical and psychological problems. Both promote radiant health.

Yoga is a systematic program whose sole purpose is spiritual. However the unhealthy condition of the average human body is a major obstacle to spiritual practices such as meditation, prayer and self-realization.

Running, swimming and weight lifting are great for muscle building but do little for connective tissue. It is the flexibility of the joints and of the connective tissues that gives us the feeling of ease and lightness in the body.

Think about that thin film running under the skin when you peel back chicken skin. It is called fascia. Humans have it, too. It runs under the skin throughout the body and even envelopes each individual cell. All major systems of the body?the circulatory and nervous systems, the muscular-skeletal system, and the various organs are cocooned in connective tissue. Tensions carried through the connective tissues are responsible for all the movements of the body.

Now imagine a young plant. It is pliable and limber when it?s young, but becomes hard, dry, and brittle with age. So with the human body, which tends to stiffen and tighten as we age. The body becomes choked in a net of shrunken and rigid connective tissues like constrictive body armor that is not only solidifying but shrinking by the minute. Every system of the body, every organ, every cell is being subjected to internal strangulation.

Connective tissues are tough and fibrous. Your connective tissue doesn?t respond to brief, repetitious stretches the way muscles do. They stretch best when pulled with steady tension like rubber band. Holding postures for a few minutes with moderate stress will cause the body to develop longer and thicker tissues.

Asanas increase your strength, stamina, and flexibility. Combined with raw food nourishment, yoga postures release tension and relieves pain even more effectively. You?ll find startling the resulting enhancement in your looks, improvement in your posture, and your better skin and muscle tone. You?ll feel your vitality brought by Asanas to a new lofty height.

I owe all of my health-my transformation from distortion to harmony-to a combination of the raw food diet and Hatha yoga. I can now practice 90 minutes of serious stretching everyday. My ability to recover and heal is the result of my raw food diet. I am stretching the scar tissue and since it is stronger and more resistant than regular tissue, I would never be able to practice yoga daily without the miraculous benefits of raw foods.

Yoga postures and the raw food diet make you more alive. Each practice complements the other, bringing many of the same physical and mental benefits. Asanas and the raw food diet are alike liberating, energizing, and exhilarating. As I practice the raw food lifestyle with regular Hatha yoga, my sense of feeling clean, good, and pure gradually becomes so prevailing that it permeates every part of my life. My emotions undergo a deep cleansing and healing paralleling similar changes in my body.

Yoga postures gently stretch the connective tissues that encase our joints, renewing our physical elasticity. Asanas lubricates the body, increasing circulation and flexibility. Stretching, twisting, bending forwards and backwards, vigorously massages various organs. Holding poses combined with proper breathing move stagnated blood that improve the flow of fresh nutrients and drains away impurities. It relaxes tense, pained areas of your body and strengthens weak areas.

Both practices?asanas and the raw food lifestyle?have their limits. For example, if the ligaments or other fibrous connective tissues are shortened as a result of injury or inactivity, raw food will definitely make stretching easier. But your food won?t do your stretching for you. On the other hand, there are many people who practice asanas regularly yet still struggle to achieve their optimal weight. Adopting the raw food diet will make a world of difference in that situation. Great as are the benefits of each, they?re finite benefits. For the best possible results, use them in tandem.

Raw food will make your constriction less rigid, but it is Hatha yoga that will stretch your tissue. Raw food furnishes the body with the best material for optimal health. Hatha yoga helps the body to make the most of it.

Herbal Skin Care Secrets Hidden At The Greengrocer's

Interest in skin care supplements, or beauty foods, has been strong in Asia, and that trend is growing fast in Europe as well. These nutrient rich beauty foods make a good case for starting a beauty regime from within, one that is designed to prevent or reduce the effects of aging, like sagging skin.

Some products on the market include a supplement containing lacto-lycopene, vitamin C, and soy isoflavones. This is aimed at restoring firmness to the skin for women over 40, and was developed by Nestle and L'Oreal. Others have been developed using lycopene and grape seed extract, both antioxidants. Grape seed extract also stops enzymatic reactions that lead to collagen in the skin being broken down.

Antioxidants protect the capillaries in skin and thus ensure that enough nutrients get to the living cells that eventually push their way to the surface and become the skin you see in the mirror. They also protect from broken veins and early wrinkling. Capillaries also deliver oxygen to the cells, and remove the waste products of cellular metabolism. This prevents puffy, sagging, and dull skin.

But you don't always need to reach for a bottle of supplements. Simply by eating more antioxidant rich food on a daily basis should see some improvement in skin tone. Fruits rich in antioxidants include blueberries, prunes, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, cherries and plums. And of the vegetables, eat more artichokes, broccoli, red cabbage, pontiac potatoes, brown onions, asparagus, non-green capsisum, beetroot, spinach and sweet potatoes.

Women are more prone to the damage caused by antioxidants than men, according to research from the University of Berkeley, and hence possibly their aging effects (Angyal).

Another strong antioxidant is beta carotene. Beta carotene is found in green leafy vegetables, fruit and carrots. This antioxidant has been found to counteract the effects of a particular type of oxygen free radical, singlet oxygen, which occurs after the skin is exposed to UV radiation in sunlight. UV exposure can lead to premature aging by the effects of singlet oxygen. A study found that whilst the provitamin A aspect of the carotenoid did not combat the singlet oxygen, the beta carotene did. It prevented the action of two enzymes, associated with UV light and the destruction of the skin cell's extracellular matrix, which happens in premature aging of the skin. Sunlight also destroys beta carotene in cells after sun exposure, so this beta carotene has to be replaced.

Beta carotene has been reported as having a mild sunscreen effect too, though it needs to be taken as a supplement to get this effect.

The skin care supplement beauty market is still not a strongly developed one however, as these types of supplements tend to be more expensive than other supplements. And there needs to be more research and clinical trials to prove which products do what they are designed to.

Celebrity Hairstyle Secrets How You Can Look Like the Stars

You are probably wondering how celebrities like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton & Reese Witherspoon look so gorgeous all the time?

How does their hairstyles always look so perfect and such dazzling colors?

Well, one of the big celebrity secrets is hair color. Just look at the hair colour of Angelina Jolie , Jennifer Aniston and Debra Messing to see what I mean.

    Dazzling Color

A really effective way to change your hair is the colour. The richer and deeper the colour, the healthier you will look and the more attractive you will appear, it?s a well acknowledged fact.

So if you haven?t already booked an appointment at your local salon to have a colour analysis, or follow these steps to the perfect celebrity look-a-like hair colour:

Firstly look at your natural hair colour; does it seem lifeless and dull? Take a long look at your hair in the mirror and look at your friends and work colleagues- also don?t forget to ask your hair stylist for advice.

The next step is to determine your own hair colour if you don?t already know this. A good tip to remember is that men can often be the best judge of hair colour, because they can sometimes be more objective.

Once you have worked out what your hair colour is, try thinking of shades that are really rich in your mind but sticking to your own colour palette.

For example, if your hair is a dark blonde colour, but also has some dark brown and red strands in there, colours that would work for you would be reds and browns.

Another good example is Keira Knightley, she looks at her best with chestnut-coloured hair because this is closest to her natural colour.

Consider trying colours that are slightly darker than your normal shade, and always try colours that are redder than your normal shade.

Red hair is really popular at the moment, with stars like Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts endorsing it.

If you want to dye your hair yourself, try some wash-in wash-out formulas before you commit to a permanent colour. This way you can be sure of the colour and whether it suits you. The usual recommendation is just to go one shade darker each time.

Also, if you just want to look good for one special evening you can then use one of these formulas and not permanently change your colour, but still look astounding.

    Perfect Nutrition = Perfect Hair

You may have heard this many times before, but a healthy diet is really important if you want to have great hair.

The stars that look the best are the ones that eat the right foods and focus on a good diet. Gwyneth Paltrow and Heidi Klum are great examples and look great without starving themselves or resorting to strange diets.

There are a few key things that you need to make sure you get enough of that will help your hair look at its best.

The first is to drink plenty of water, this gives the hair its shine and without enough it can leave your hair lank and frizzy. The usual recommendation is eight glasses a day, but don?t stick rigidly to this, just drink as much as you can.

Secondly, protein is really important to your hair as this is what it?s made of, so be sure to eat enough dairy and meat products.

Minerals like iron, zinc and copper are also really important.

The iron helps deliver oxygen to your hair to keep it alive and fresh looking, so eat plenty of red meat and dark green veggies.

Zinc is effective in keeping the hair strong, and prevents the hair falling out; it can be found in seafood and meat.

Copper is really important in maintaining the colour of your hair, and enough of this will really give your hair colour a boost, so make sure you eat enough shellfish, seeds and fresh vegetables.

Vitamins are also effective in maintaining a good scalp and a great overall condition of your hair, especially vitamins A, B and C. These can be found in fruits and vegetables.

A great celebrity secret is the sweet potato, which is full of vitamins A and B and other great nutrients which will give your hair great life and body.

How To Get Those Big Beautiful Lips You've Always Dreamed Of

Big beautiful lips have always been a symbol of sexiness! Full lips scream kiss me and guys go crazy over them. Full lips are a sign of youthfulness and health.

Great but not all of us were lucky enough to be born with those sexy full lips. Look at the stars, plenty of them flaunt their big full lips, but believe me not all of them were born with those lips!

    So what to do?

Well the simplest, most non-invasive, and most affordable way to get full lips is to purchase one of the pout pumper products on the market.

    • theBalm Tinted Gloss comes in several sheer hues, each with a delicious flavor. It gives your lips a subtle fuller look.
    • Too Faced Lip Injection gives a noticeable size difference to the lips almost instantly. It's not thick or goopy so you can apply it in layers
    • LipFusion - Instanly swells the lips and it lasts for up to 12 hours so you don't have to keep reapplying it.
    • DuWop Venom Flash - It's colorless but turns your lips a flushed pink with a shimmer. It expands the lips nicely.
Another easy method to create the illusion of bigger lips is quite simple
    • Line the outer rim of your lips with a mute lip pencil staying within the natural border of your lips
    • Apply a light colored lipstick. Dark colors make your lips appear smaller
    • Use the wand of a pearly pink gloss - apply from the bottom of your lips upward to add more dimension
    • Lastly dab a bit of gold lip gloss on the center of your bottom lip.
    Then of course there are the more invasive and more costly procedures;

    1. Your dentist can bond thick veneers onto your front six teeth. This pushes out the upper lip for a fuller look. Are you sitting down? because this process costs on average $1500.00 USD per tooth. Perhaps that's why the only ones using it are the stars.

    2. Lip augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis.

    • Artecoll is a synthetic material that plumps up the lips. It is synthetic so there is a higher risk of having an allergic reaction, however it lasts longer than collagen.
    • Autologen is an injection of your own collagen, extracted from another place on your body. There's no risk of allergic reaction. Results are temporary.
    • Collagen is extracted from cows and then injected into your lips. There is a risk of allergic reaction. Results are temporary lasting from 1 - 3 months.
    • Dermalogen is collagen extracted from deceased human donors. It's also called injectable Human Tissue Matrix. Also temporary.

2005 Holiday Hairstyling Tips Trends and Secrets of the Stars

Create a super new holiday hairdo that will turn you into a shining star.

With the holiday season just around the corner, there's one question that's on every woman's mind. It doesn't matter if she's young or old, married or single, tall, short, fat, or thin. When the calendar says Only 25 More Shopping Days 'Til Christmas, women want to know?

How can I style my hair for the holidays?

Be Brave, Be Bold, But Be Sensible It's fine to say you want something new and different for the holidays. But what you DON'T want is an unpleasant surprise at the salon.

Think twice before you cut once! (And you thought that was only for tailors!)

We've all heard horror stories about women who give their stylists very specific instructions about what they want?don't listen the advice the hair professional is offering (usually because it contradicts the client's fantasy image)?and end up with an unsuitable holiday hairdo. Instead of feeling their best, these poor hair victims end up spending their holidays hiding, rather than shining.

Can't quite imagine yourself with your hair gathered loosely at the crown with tousled waves flowing down your neck?but like the idea? Wondering how your super-curly hair would look if it were smooth and straight? Afraid to boldly cut off your long dresses in favor of a sleek modern 'do?

You're smart to be cautious. A pixie-cut maybe the perfect holiday hairdo for Halle Berry, but not for you. And once you've cut, or colored, or processed your hair in some way, you're going to be stuck with it.

See it? Consider it? THEN make your decision to cut, curl, and/or color!

Don't Be Scared, Be Prepared With so much going on at holiday time, the last thing you want to do is worry about your holiday hairstyle, but you DO want to look fabulous. To do that, you'll need to think about your hair before the holidays arrive.

A pre-holiday deep conditioning treatment is a must. The oils will nourish your hair and seal the cuticles. If your hair is healthy and in good condition, it will be easy to work with. So whether you or a professional are styling your hair, it will be responsive to being brushed, curled, and combed.

Secret: clean, healthy hair in a simple ponytail looks 100% better than dry, damaged flyaway hair that 's been tortured and lacquered into place.

The Right Tool for the Job There's no holiday hairstyling tool that's more versatile and more essential than the curling iron. Curling irons come in a range of sizes, but all you need to remember is: the narrower the barrel, the tighter the curl.

Look for a curling iron with multiple settings. This will allow you to choose the heat level.

Caution: Curling irons are hot like?well like irons?and can be damaging to your glossy locks. Trimming your hair on a regular basis prevents the damage down by blow-drying from traveling up the hair shaft.)

Fashion Forecast - Going Up! Hair is definitely going to new heights for the holidays with a trend towards upswept hairstyles reminiscent of the 1950's. The emphasis is on soft natural curls and waves that say, Caress me not stiff, lacquered locks that say, Don't touch

To get the up in your up-do, work with lightweight hair products that create volume ? especially mousses. Make sure that you have bobby pins that match your hair color and that they're the right size and strength to hold your hair.

A Traditional Style That's Always Fashionable, Easy, and Sexy The classic chignon sounds French, but it actually dates back to the Greco-Roman times! It's sleek, and chic, and magnificent for the holidays because of its simplicity and timeless appeal. (It's also appealing because it doesn't require that you cut your hair!)

The chignon is the holiday hairstyle of choice for fashion icons Kelly Ripa, Heidi Klum, and everyone's favorite desperate housewife Eva Longoria.

Here's how: Brush straight, medium- to long- hair into a low, tight ponytail at the nape of the neck and secure it with a rubber band. Twist hair several times to make a tight rope, with no frayed-out ends. Curl the rope into a bun and use hairpins to secure to nape of neck. If sleek isn't in your curly hair's vocabulary, consider a braided ponytail. When your hair is wet, work in some styling moose. Then use a hair diffuser to blow-dry scrunching it with your fingers. Grab hair and braid into loose platte down back. Secure with rubber band and then cover with a decorative hair ornament.

What Knots! The complete opposite of the stately chignon is a fun holiday look doesn't require that you cut your hair either -- urban style knots, a randomly placed series of tightly curled sections.

Here's how: To become a knot-head, divide your hair into 9 sections of equal size, securing each with a clip to hold it out of the way. One by one, twist a section into a tight coil and then wrap the coil into a tight knot. This is a holiday hairstyle where decorative hairpins are a must! Use them to hold each knot close to the scalp, but use them sparingly. We suggest one decorative pin for every three plain ones.

Is Bling Your Thing? You don't have to have big bucks to look like you're living large. Even with an everyday budget, your bun or chignon can be transformed into a holiday hairdo that's modern, sexy, and very, very merry with faux diamonds and other fabulous fakes!

Placing diamond clips and delicate barrettes add a sassy touch of glamour to hairstyles for the holiday. Pretty, feminine clips and clasps come in a wide variety of textures and finishes, with ribbons and other charming details
